Jean-Claude Juncker

Jean-Claude Juncker has been the President of the European Commission since 2014. He was elected by the European Parliament on 15 July 2014 after his election as the candidate of the European People’s Party (EPP) for the Presidency of the European Commission in the first ever Europe-wide campaign. His political program is based on a social market economy and a commitment to be a president of social dialogue. Prior to this, he was president of the Eurogroup from 2005 to 2013 and prime minister of Luxembourg from 1995 to 2003. His work experience started in 1982, during which time he worked as deputy minister for labour in Luxembourg.
