Matt Berg is the anchor of POLITICO’s National Security Daily newsletter, having co-written it since October 2022. He primarily covers foreign policy, defense and space, and worked as a breaking news reporter before moving full-time to the national security team.

Before joining POLITICO in the summer of 2022, Matt was a stringer at The New York Times and a correspondent at The Boston Globe. He got his start in local media at the Daily Hampshire Gazette, The Republican and The Shoestring.

Matt graduated from UMass Amherst in 2022 and is a proud Western Massachusetts native.
