Patrick Cotter was born in Cork, where he still lives. Cotter's poems have been published in the Financial Times, London Review of Books, the Irish Times, PN Review, Poetry magazine, Poetry Review, and elsewhere. He received the Keats-Shelley Prize for Poetry in 2013. He’s the author of Sonic White Poise (Dedalus Press, 2021), Making Music (Three Spires Press, 2009), and Perplexed Skin (Arlen House, 2008). Reviewing Making Music in Poetry International, Nuala O'Connor wrote, “he has a gift for creating a rueful narrative voice that milks both sympathy and laughs from the reader. The writing is always finely crafted; it is conversational but learned, seemingly effortless, and is studded everywhere with the poet's vast and unusual vocabulary. He is a modern poet in the best sense of that word and he deserves many, many readers.”
