I’ve had a few people email me about my upcoming new Doctor Who print to urge me not to use the original sketch I did of twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi: …because the image of the Doctor jamming on a guitar in rocker clothes is sure to be the definitive image of this incarnation of Doctor Who. I agree and had planned to redo my Capaldi caricature. Well, here’s the sketch and, yes, it’s available to purchase in the studio store!

Here’s my sketch of John Krasinski. John has a long, narrow face shape but a wide and rounded jaw area. Between that shape, his beard, and a bit of an underbite, he looks like he has “chipmunk cheeks” (a term meaning it looks like you have filled the cavities between your teeth and the inside of your mouth with food). He also has a pretty big nose, but mostly because it is very flat and wide between the nostrils, not that is is bulky. Finally, he has prominent ears.

I’m starting a new series for the “Sketch o’the Week”… classic action heroes! First up is Bruce Willis from 1988’s “Die Hard”. As always, the original of this sketch is available in the Studio Store.

Here’s my Clint Eastwood as “William Munny” from the oscar winning movie “Unforgiven”. This is another example of the kind of sketches I’ll be doing in copies of CLAPTRAP for all “Schmendrick” or higher backers. Busy in teaching a workshop in NYC right now, so in lieu of my usual “Sketch o’ the Week” I thought I’d post a couple of pieces I did for some friends recently. Here’s my take on today’s subject: Rihanna! Rihanna is a beautiful woman, and many people struggle to caricature beautiful people. That’s because all too often people expect caricatures to exaggerate what would be considered a person’s flaws… big noses, small chins, etc. Caricature is all about exaggerating what makes a person unique and recognizable from the next person. Those things can quite easily be elements of beauty as well as those of goofy. Rihanna has heavily lidded eyes, and her…
