So Snoke was reading his mind here. He saw him turning the lightsaber on "his true enemy". We know that Kylo didn't kill his father out of anger or hate, he didn't view him as an enemy or a threat, just an obstacle. He didn't kill Finn. He asked Rey to join him and has never hurt her. This means that he really felt that Snoke was a villain that needed to be eliminated.
