October 1869- A golden spike is driven in Ogden, Utah, to complete a transcontinental railroad & people can now travel from the east coast to the west coast of North America in a train. With the advent of Pullman cars, they can even have champagne & fresh fruit from silver on white tablecloths as the wilderness whizzes by outside.
