Week 3 of embryological development is when gastrulation takes place. The embryo folds along two planes - craniocaudal (head to end) and lateral (side to side). The folding takes what was a bilaminar disc into a trilaminar tube. During this process, the embryo develops three distinct germ layers (this is the "week of 3's!"): 1️⃣ ectoderm 2️⃣ mesoderm 3️⃣ endoderm Embryo Development, Embryonic Development, Biology Facts, Thyroid Gland, School Tips, Side To Side, Three Layer, School Hacks, Cavities
