The global star opened up to Billboard about his house music origins, finding himself in salsa musica, mentoring the genre's next-in-line superstars and getting respect for Latin culture amid celebrating three decades in the business.

Philadelphia-born Puerto Rican artist Luis Figueroa says all types of music surrounded his life growing up, from salsa to soul to R&B and beyond.
