Portland head light

The Portland Head Light is one of the more recognizable (and most commonly photographed) lighthouses in the United States. It is located in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, just south of Portland. The lighthouse grounds are now part of Fort Williams Park.

The oldest lighthouse in Maine, Portland Head Lighthouse was commissioned by President George Washington in 1791, and its tower still exists as when commissioned. It's tower is 80 feet high, with the height of the focal plane being 101 feet above the water. It is located in Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth at the southern approach to Portland Harbor in Casco Bay.
