Brilliant news. Was there the other week and the scale of the place is impressive compared with when it first opened. I'm hoping for a campsite to avoid more longer one-off days driving.

@opignonlibre: you may be right, as I say, I'm not advocating for it simply pointing out that it exists and looks like it is going to happen (the main person says they can fund it privately for first 3 years). Freak show? Maybe.

@opignonlibre: well I think the drugs have to be FDA approved - you can't just fuel up on steroids and cocaine. There will no doubt be a huge pile of contracts and wavers to sign for anyone taking part. Seems a lot of people don't like the idea of it, which is understandable.

@vinay: I think the idea is to create better pay for athletes, as most of them make next to nothing. I didn't post about it to advocate for it - I'm still on the fence. The interesting thing to me is that it's going to happen for real - maybe it will be less 'whack' than the standard Olympics. Who knows.

@vinay: thanks for the reply. Some excellent points. In some ways it seems instinctively wrong but doping is still prevalent (to various extents) in Olympic sports. I think there is a risk to athletes in that, if they compete at enhanced, it's like proving you use enhancing drugs (and probably have before).

@mi-bike: it is basically the Olympics but without mandatory drug testing. The main organiser is a multi-millionaire with the funding to run it for 3 years without relying on media or ad revenue, so it will happen. It is at least interesting.
