Kye A'Hern Injury Update: CT Scans Show No Fractured Vertebrae after Canadian Open DH Crash
Hey! I find it interesting you thought it was lacking. After walking the track and watching the race in person I thought the opposite. To see how much was put into the emergency response plan (safety). A lot of pads in the most crucial sections. (Can’t pad and net the whole track) a helicopter parked near the rock garden. Spine boards at various points along the track. Fire suppressant ready to go (its extreme fire Hazzard in BC right now). A trail built straight to the rock garden, so you can stumble down it after the race. It’s a dangerous sport hard to get around that. Overall, it seemed like the various event organizers / partners put on a good show, and made plummeting pieces of rocket ships down a hill side as “safe” as it could be given the choice of track.

Reece Wilson to Miss the Leogang DH World Cup
The Precedent Trek is setting for self well being and supporting riders to take time to heal is of great importance in the sport. This is missing from many teams programs which forces riders to proceed competing while injured. A UCI concussion baseline test standard before competing is one step in the right direction. A riders union that protects post injury support if not able to compete would be another. Eddie Masters on the downtime podcast mentioned this. I believe if these supports come into place (how this comes to fruition is currently over my head) the sport will become a more stable, less of a dynamic for riders coming in and out of competition. In turn, a more secure investment for sponsors. Ideally, an end result being more support for riders and a growing sport. Cheers, Max
