Pinkbike Poll: Should Downhill Bikes Have More Than 200 Millimeters of Travel?
Well there is a reason actually. Bike manufacturers follow a standard stack height based on the lower crown. With a standard fork the one thing to consider is bushing overlap. The greater the distance, the better the fork will operate. Inverted forks allow for a greater bushing overlap naturally as the inner tubes real estate isn't taken up by the triple clamps. This is why motocross bikes use an inverted style fork. You reference two inverted style forks, as well as a 27.5 fork which doesn't require as much clearance from the axle to underside of the lower crown. Obviously this could be altered, however this would require industry collaboration. Given that there really isn't a financial gain to do this, there really isn't any point. On that note, more travel can also make the bike more cumbersome. As a rider who has been on DH bikes for over 20 years, I feel the 200 mark for the fork is the sweet spot, and for the rear anywhere from 200-215 is perfect. This is obviously my opinion based off my riding style though, so I'm certain that some might disagree.

Spotted: A Wireless Fox Electronic Dropper Post
@warmerdamj: I agree that electronic parts are not a fad. Are they cheaper to produce?? Not sure about that. However, do they work better, I'd say for the most part, yes. However 27.5 wheels were not a fad. The UCI changed the rules allowing Mixed wheel setups. 29 wheels just roll faster, and with gravity bikes, the 29er never caught on until Greg Minnaar did it. Alot of smaller races like Troy Brosnan stayed on the 27.5 wheel u til the rule change. So was it a fad? No, because it was an evolutionary step.

First Ride: Jackalope Kangarabbit
Jackalope Kangarabbit.... interesting name... I mean, I feel like you spent so much time thinking about if you could... but never thought about whether or not you should. The brazing looks really good though. I'm digging it.

Orange Launch Five New Bikes at Eurobike 2024
Well it seems it's unanimous. Nobody wants these. Usually I see a debate over these comment sections, yes the only debate I see is "what's worse".

Gracey Hemstreet Fractured Hand in Leogang Qualification Crash
@fwp39: I will be honest, I feel that having Greg show good results is only a part of the equation, and ultimately just the cherry on top. I believe his feedback in product development is where he holds most of his value. No matter what, Greg is still the most decorated DH racer of all time. I also don't expect him to jump on the brand and them to immediately do well either. They both need to develop the team, and the products together. I feel that people's expectations are not realistic. Racing DH is an interesting sport with an amalgamation of man and machine (Or Woman and Machine). Crashes happen, weather is unpredictable, equipment can malfunction, and athletic performance can be impacted by many other contributing factors. Again, I see past what's on the surface, and I'm excited to see the brand develop further over the next couple of years. They are taking a much different approach than they ever have, and I think we all need to see what happens.
