Troy Lee Buys Back His Company
@NorCalNomad: @scott-townes you're both correct, as long as the family is better than the private equity corporation they replace. At least if PE leadership is bad, there's a way to deal with it (the shareholders.) If a family sucks, there's nothing anyone can do. Making broad assumptions that family owned = good and corporate owned = bad isn't always true. And FYI, I left a large PE backed company to start my own, owner-operated business, rejecting PE backing, for precisely the reasons people hate PE. But that doesn't automatically mean PE is bad. PE is a tool like any other, it can be used poorly or used well.

Troy Lee Buys Back His Company
@scott-townes: @scott-townes: the main difference being that private equity/venture capitalists are accountable to their shareholders. A family is accountable to no one. Hope they're decent.

You just described in exact detail my Guerrilla Gravity ownership experience. They were out of business within 6 mos. of my visit to their HQ. :(

Esker Releases Smokey Steel Hardtail Designed for a 160mm Fork
@brapntap: I did not see that! That pretty much undermines my entire premise, so I guess I take it all back.

Esker Releases Smokey Steel Hardtail Designed for a 160mm Fork
Hard tails don't need seat angles this steep! They get way to steep once you've sagged out a 160mm fork and riding while seated means you get pile-driven by the smallest bumps. Steep seat angles are great for long climbs, but that's not really where a bike like this works best.

Brian's Randoms from Eurobike 2024
I had a specialized post about 10 years ago with a similar design. It was definitely easier to mount a saddle* but it was really hard to get tight enough to not slip. *My least favorite thing to do is mount inserts. Or maybe chasing creaks. Or getting my brakes not to rub. . .I love to hate working on my bike.
