5 Things We Learned from the 2024 Paris Olympics
@stiingya: I agree it was a piss-poor choice of venue for the race given the quality of existing courses France has to offer, Les Gets for example. I was just pointing out the reason for the gravel.

5 Things We Learned from the 2024 Paris Olympics
@stiingya: Apparently the type of soil at that location becomes unrideable when wet, as in "hike-a-bike with 20lbs of mud on the wheels" unrideable, hence the copious amount of gravel spread on the track.

Spokane Trail Saboteur Pours Grease on Rock Slab, Threatens Further Action
Nahhhh, disappearing the dude/dudette seems excessive. Creativity is king in these circumstances. Capture them in the act, find a red ant nest, strip the person, tie them upright to a nearby tree, pour liquid honey on them. Stand back and observe, you know, for their safety because bears like honey too. Not that I condone such behavior, much.

Video: Tips To Make Hot Weather Riding & Conditions Not Suck
~20yrs ago I volunteered as a course marshal and first aid at a local XC race, unfortunately held on what was the hottest day of that year. Long story short, after reporting to a rider in distress (fell of his bike on a climb, unresponsive when I arrived) I watched as he was heli-vac'd off course to hospital. The medic made it clear in 10 seconds it was an absolute rush job. The guy never regained consciousness and died two days later. Heat stroke is no joke.

"beer and coffee are not a replacement for water..." Hey now, don't be contradicting my decades of research on the topic. :)

Video: Tips To Make Hot Weather Riding & Conditions Not Suck
The Singletrack 6 stage race started this morning in Castlegar, BC. They bumped up the start time each day from 8am to 7am but it's still going to be brutal, especially for those near the caboose. There's nothing like 1200-1500m of hot and dusty climbing to let you know how fit you are, or not. https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/weather/british-columbia/nelson https://www.singletrack6.com/
