First Ride: the Trek Slash+ Sets a High Bar
@Doomage: are you saying that it’s been proven that more traffic does not equal more erosion? Or that is been proven that without e-bikes 50% of the riders would still ride the same amount on the same trails?

First Ride: the Trek Slash+ Sets a High Bar
@Mtn-Goat-13: I don’t have instagram and don’t care what pros ride. I have said before bikes with assistance allow people who other wise would or could not access to trails. I don’t care what people ride or even if they are having fun or not. I don’t want more people accessing trails I like and e-bikes offer access with less work period. If that wasn’t the case the injured old and out of shape wouldn’t ride them. I see plenty of in shape riders on them but I see way more middle aged dad bods on them. Or worse I see guys smoking vapes or cigarettes in the parking area then hoping on their e-bikes and zipping up the trail with their shitty music blasting out of a crappy cell phone speaker. Let’s not over look the most glaring issue. People that new to the sport or returning to it buy e-bikes and being new use them dangerously. I see it at least once a week riding locally some ass hat flying down a climb or stopping mid decent because they are lost scared of a feature or taking a selfie they do this because they are new and now have access that wasn’t earned and it affects riders they climbed those trails long before e-bikes and did the boring shit to maintain that ability as we aged such as running, the dreaded road bike or worse the peloton along with strict diet to maintain your ability to climb. I made comments on this post half joking cause the original poster was flexing and kinda being a dick. But if you want to have a serious conversation about this. There you go. I have listed my gripes specifically and they are all proven and unfortunately I’m sorry you’re hurt and stuck on the e-bike but making your point by bringing up what pros do and weirdos that live in vans is not a good faith argument. Those that oppose e-bikes for my reasons have points particularly about the uninitiated being dangerous in places they shouldn’t be.

@psullivan65: I get it man I have voiced my gripes with e-bikes. They are limited only to allowing access they have made trails more crowded more frequently. I’m only commenting here cause the original poster was flexing in the comments section and I have time to be petty this morning. I own an e-bike I don’t much care for it. I feel that it detracts from my personal ride experience.

@ThatEbikeGuy: at .78 pounds to the dollar and houses for sale in your area between 175 and 450k there are a lot of people in the western portion of North America including western Canada obviously that could our houses buy there and retire with a bunch of e-bikes too. You’re bragging like people brag about being rich in Nebraska.

@mi-bike: I’m guessing there is a sliding scale on what rich means. That dude doesn’t have any impressive “rich” guy stuff in his photos. When I think rich I think like multiple yeti’s and s-works and other 10k + bikes. But having 1 and not having to work isn’t rich.

@ThatEbikeGuy: it’s 10 in the morning here I’m up. I need to finish my coffee before I start complaining about the e-bike article. And no I’m not even gonna read it first.
