Pinkbike Poll: If Mountain Bikes Had Never Existed, Would You Still Be a Cyclist?
That said, I can see myself trying BMX racing or at least riding on a race track. I am pretty sure I wouldn't be good at it, but I would have a blast for sure!

Pinkbike Poll: If Mountain Bikes Had Never Existed, Would You Still Be a Cyclist?
For me, mountain biking has not been about adrenaline since maybe 2003 or 2004. I mountain bike for the joy of being out in nature and for the way it demands almost constant attention, for the fun of picking a line through rocks and roots, for the challenge of trying to make it up technical climbs without dabbing, and for the fun of riding with a friend or two. Hats off to everyone here who catches air and rides the modern way, but I'm just not up to it. I'm not that talented at mountain biking as it's practiced now, and don't care. I love road biking for the fast-rolling wheels, for grinding up long climbs, for the way the miles add up over many hours of riding, for the trance I slip into, for the consistent effort I have to put out, and for the fact that I start almost all of my road bike rides from my front door.

That handguard would also have an additional benefit when riding in the cold- protection against the wind. I've ridden in the cold and been struck by freezing wind that my gloves couldn't deal with, and the Lewis guards (or any other) would really help.

I find that modern bikes are too long for me. The marketing copy says "relaxed", "stretched out", "limousine-like", but what I often get is a cramp in my delts. Similar deal with handlebar width- they're so flipping wide, as if every rider thought, correctly or not, that they have a lumberjack's shoulders. I'm not asking for 1990s reach and chopped down bars, but the defaults today feel a bit much to me.

Revenue Round Up: The Latest Financial Reports from Giant, Shimano & More
@Vindiu: I think it has to do with the drivetrain market being effectively a duopoly. Okay, you have Microshift and Box and Sunrace nibbling on the edges, but really it's SRAM and Shimano and there's not much more. There just isn't that much competition.

Don't get me wrong, Shimano does some stuff really well... Cranks, bottom brackets, chains, derailleurs, hydraulic brakes without Servo Wave... I still ride a Shimano drivetrain but just avoid the things I mentioned.
