Expert Rider Passes Away After Crash at 2024 USA Cycling National Downhill Championships in North Carolina
what a sad day. Condolences to everyone close :-( I don't know why they is shortage about details what happened exactly. It would be nice to know, also to remind and sensitize people to wear gear in the sport. I've had several let's say normal surgeries in my live due to accidents in sport and non sport events. 2 were with internal bleeding that could have gone real bad. one was a liver puncture going OTB on a blue easy track with no danger, despite wearing chest protection. I am wondering so much why people wear less and less gear these days. it is crazy!! despite them getting more comfortable. I wear almost everything you can wear. Sometimes i get shit about it..but I couldn't care less. because I've spend enough time in the hospital or went through incidences that were close. of course protection doesn't always prevent an injury from it's severity but i'd rather minimize the odds. when you do 10 runs a day in a bikepark full of gnar and big features the odds are there. I even still where neck brace in parks when almost no one does anymore. even though there is controversy, but in my case I've had several crashes where i think it helped me preventing worse. It is way to cool not to wear gear these days. i think pro riders and stars are no good role models in this case. maybe it gives you more clicks to show bleeding forearms on instagram - a strange direction we are heading. above all that - all these people riding half shell helmets in Morzine bikepark (often from UK) or elsewhere. I have to shake my head way too often about that. of course gear is not as comfortable or warmer but it can prevent a life threatening injury!!! So maybe it is only a little post but I want to make people being more aware and I think a homepage like Pinkbike should also do so.

First Look: The 2025 Lapierre Spicy Can Be High-Pivot Or Low-Pivot
@succulentsausage: I was happy about the first megatowers geo changeability - combined with my air chamber tuned air shock it made the bike so much more nimble and a pop I have barely seen for a long travel bike and yet still save enough for tackling the steepest downhills. tested a forbidden druid with much less rear travel - jumping this high pivot bike felt strange. i had to push a lot harder for the same jumps. so I think for me if I bought a spicy i'd be happy to be able to change and see how it feels differently. because i think the bike looks mint.
