@groghunter: I definitely thought I was missing something in my post, so thanks for setting the record straight! I will confess that my job is mostly only on the chip architecture design end, and not anything on the software/application/actually-using-the-thing-in-a-system side, so forgive my ignorance. I honestly should have caught that 8-bit is quite poor for a lot of practical usage modes, so that is honestly an embarrassing mea culpa.

@groghunter: Definitely agreed. The only real advantages of 64-bit over 8/32-bit is the overkill amount of memory space available, and an increase in precision (this is dependent on so many other factors as well, not just on whether the computer is capable of such precision, but whether you have the granularity of control on the manufacturing components to even be able to use such precision). On the first point, to date, I don't think I've seen a hobby grade project really need that level of precision anyways (if my back of the napkin floating point math is correct anyway). Any performance gain to bandwidth and the like are likely moot points, as the bottleneck is the physical fabrication, not the computer itself.

I actually have a few questions now. @mikekazimer: what kind of underwear do you suggest for people who don't want to wear a chamois? I'm currently destroying my briefs at an alarming rate, and I'm not really keen on wearing my road bib shorts. @brianpark: For the companies that don't size chainstays up or down based on frame size, which size(s) do you think get screwed the most? Which size(s) are the ones where the chainstays are designed perfectly for, or is it just some compromise between all sizes? @...someone, not sure who: Regarding footwear, I've noticed that a lot of mtb flat pedal shoes have really wide toeboxes (for my small feet anyway). Coming more from a skiing background, how snug should the shoe fit to get more out of the experience versus a ski boot?

@pmhobson: You could even argue that styleguide is just presenting a more abstract view of the same problem. Total energy of the system is just PE+KE, from which you can break out the KE into the integral of all the forces acting upon the bike over time. Doing so necessarily will incorporate the centripetal forces incurred through pumping, hence the rotation within the bike+rider system.

@joshroppo: Probably won't be bankrupt. The insurance company will likely have insurance purchased from a reinsurancer. Not doing so would be a big oversight in the shipping industry, since a loss can be catastrophic in terms of the amount of money needing to be paid out.

@mikelevy: Only three parts? PB is slipping with the milking content game with these rookie numbers.

@daugherd: Is it even fair criticism, when it's just plain wrong? Video bike checks are by far the minority of bike check content. The past week + of bike check content has been articles. And yet people have the audacity to think that the "good old times" of just a few hours before is somehow all fair criticism, and a snarky response is seriously rude? JFC.

@mikelevy: I'm a newbie to the sport, so how I experience with mountain biking is roughly the same as my experience with skiing in that I think racing is cool, exciting, and vicariously stressful, but I don't see myself wanting a XC super light or the next enduro monster truck, much like how I don't see myself buying some skinny-stiff chopsticks from the other big S. I don't consider myself much of a free-rider either. Maybe the most ideal marketing campaign would be some 30 year old dude/person kinda just shrugging and saying, "Bike goes up and down." I will concede that I succumbed to race marketing super hard when I bought my first road bike out of college. It's a good bike, and I love riding it, but I wouldn't say that something much cheaper wouldn't have done the exact same job either. Maybe that colors my thinking.
