MENTIONS: @Metboard
MET never claimed it is a downhill helmet; it is an enduro helmet. But it does meet all the full face certifications, which should be good as European safety certifications are usually pretty high standard. Thereby I trust this helmet to make a big difference when crashing (no helmet can safe you from everything).
Also you can't compare this certified one piece full face helmet to the lids you're talking about that have removable chin guards; there's a reason those helmets didn't meet the certifications.
Seems like you're having a hard time adapting to the idea that this helmet created a new category for itsself, filling the gap between downhill helmets and enduro lids. It's much better for climbing than a downhill helmet, but still offers you quite a bit extra protection compared to the enduro and xc lids that the potential buyers from this helmet are wearing.
I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sold to the idea
I'm not going to disagree with you, but just point out that there is definetely good reason to say its a lighter form of downhill. You can only push yourself so much on a bike with 5" of travel and feel within your subjective level of comfort. I always wonder if they would do the same thing in enduro.
As bikes become more versatile, and more like downhill bikes, you're going to try to push harder, so in that sense, more protective equipment is a good thing. I personally struggle with whether or not I believe there should be bike races for certain types of bicycles. In other sports, equipment is regulated. The nba requires certain shoes. Track and field literally made javelins worse at flying because where they were landing was too dangerous. Cyclocross requires 35c tires at widest.
sorry for those who didn't understand .. ^^
Have a good night.
I was just saying the NEW VERSION MET PARACHUTE is a 100% game changer for me.
First of all I think everyone should realize the MET Parachute IS NOT MEANT TO BE A DH HELMET !!!!!!! it's basically a XC/AM helmet with a DH certified non-removable chin bar....
I still wear my TLD D3 when I ride my big bike !!!!!!!!
but for AM/Enduro/XC the Parachute is INCREDIBLE...It's sooooo light I barely can tell i'm wearing a fullface, and it is vented very well too....I love having the extra face protection...SUPER COMFY TOO..
I have yet to wear mine on a super hot day,so I cant say It will be as incredible on those really hot and humid days?? but for me? I already know even if it is a tad hotter?? I will still be wearing my MET for the extra protection, since I don't get paid to ride, and a little extra heat is still worth the "A LOT of extra protection" to me
IMO I think all manufacturers in the future are going to be making Full face helmets similar to the Parachute...no more looking like a dork with the goggles and half shell either sorta
Won't lie a tad hotter on slow climbs, but once your moving, it's actually cooler than some of the higher end 1/2 domes I've ridden.
Thing is, too many people don't think you can f up your face XC riding- all it takes is one mistake. The MET is perfect for everything up to DH. For that, I have a POC Cortex DH MIPS.
Many hanks PB! And Merry Christmas!
I think google is drunk.
