"3-2-1 – drop in!" The Silver Star Mountain Bike Park "soft-launched" its opening on Thursday to the delight of the hundreds of Okanagan-area mountain bikers.
Traditionally the Silver Star Bike Park opens on a Saturday, but due to strong early bird season pass sales, the decision was made to open a couple of days earlier."Walk-up ticket sales were incredibly strong for a mid-week opening, and our season's pass sales are almost double what they were last year," said Michael Sherwood, Silver Star's General Manager.
Under the guidance of bike park director Cam Sorensen, Silver Star has built a reputation as the place to ride in Canada. Sorensen, the "godfather of mountain biking" at Silver Star, has built a park that is based on progression. Everything from beginner trails to expert runs filled with berms, table tops and a ton of wooden features are offered, making a trip to Silver Star a must.
The Silver Star Bike Park features sixteen trails for riders of all abilities, plunging 1,600 vertical feet and serviced by the Comet Express six-pack. "We can get them to the top almost as quick as they come down," he enthused. "It's only a seven minute ride to the top so riders can cover a lot of ground in a day."
Silver Star Mountain Bike Park summer hours of operation are 10:00 am - 5:00 pm daily, with extended evening hours on Wednesday until 7:30.
But other than that great time and world cup this year is amazing love the bridge 2, and pipe dream is just as shitty as the year before they can't fill in the gaps worth shit
The place has no water fountains so you die of dehydration waiting in line. Or, make a trip back to the village, or you could buy your $3.00 water at the bottom from a vending machine, before it sells out.
