sweet, a slopestyle bike that costs $2300 for the frame alone. whoopity-doo.

dude thats how much all hardcore hand made in usa frames cost. You are paying the extra coin to have it made in the main land rather than have it shipped over seas. Plus you are also paying for their r and d, which is not expensive. Intense has some of the best r and d on the market. Especially with the vpp being the most advanced suspension design to date (that actually works as much as it is advanced.)

btw if you dont want to spend the 2300 you can always get a complete asian made bike. Have fun with your q/c.

Hmmm other US made bikes don't seem to cost half as much though. Plus if your in the UK your probably looking 2300 in pound sterling... almost twice the price you can get them for in the US.

thats not how much all "hardcore" frames built in USA cost. what does that mean anyway? don't give me a bunch of bullshit buddy, I own an Intense 5.5, and I'm well aware of everything that goes into making the frames. their customer service is good but not great...i've had them send many replacement parts, usually with good results but certainly not EVERY time.

i ride a santa cruz bullit too. made in taiwan, which is overseas, but no issues whatsoever ever with customer service from santa cruz. I disagree that VPP works SOOOO awesome. I have a VPP bike and have 5, thats right FIVE buddies who own VPP bikes...and they replace the linkage more often than with other designs. I'm not saying it doesn't work very well b/c it DOES, but it wears out VERY FAST.

 "t3h1337r" You an idiot!
Just cause a bike or parts are made in Asia, doesn't mean they're worst than U.S. parts...! I see you doesn't know that much about bike technology, if you knew you wouldn't be saying such a buuuullshit...

Cheers!

A product made in Asia doesnt make it any worst than a product made in the States.... I have a friend who owns an Uzzi and his rear-end was welded all wrong....

I own a Giant Faith with the Maestro system which to me is Intense/Santa Cruz' main competition suspension wize because (and ive ridden VPP) to me Maestro works wayyyyy better!! Also mention the warranty the GIANT frame comes with, also that I got a brand new 2006 Faith Frame for 750$ from a local shop... Sure beats that 2300$ any day...

If you guys wana shell out top dollar for Intense go for it!! Im not the one to tell you how to spend your pennies.... PEACE

Because it is cheaper abroad they can carry out checks on welding quality etc that they can't afford to do in the uk, canada or usa due to the cost of hiring people. So the case often is that the taiwanese bikes are in fact made better. As said above, sure if you want to pay more for a frame made in uk canada or usa go for it there is certainly some patriotic part of you that draws you towards getting a frame made in your country, why i've always wanted a curtis.

when i buy a bike, i buy into a brand.
the ethos of the company.
my first bike was a 24seven, hand made in the uk at the time (china now i think), they had an ethos back then of "fight the corporate machine" and there customer service was awesome. i was part of their family, even tho i was only 13/14 i got treated with respect!
when i upgraded, i considered many bike brands, but transition seemed to follow a similar ethos to 24seven.
i know there bikes are manufactured in taiwan or wherever but they are easy to replace and have a good crash replacement policy which i happily never needed.
when that got stolen, i thought about getting another one but decided against it purely on the basis that its appeal dissolved every day by some 12 year old posting up new pictures of there BRs.
id always admired intense for their in house build policy, and i can happily say you can see it in every weld. some american dude slaved away for hours on my frame. its his job, and i hope he does it for a reason, theres got to be some passion in it right?
the thought of that guy making frames in a shed in the us makes me happy.
much more so than a poor unfortunate chinese dude getting an average wage of less than 200 dollars a year to weld frames as fast as he can so he can feed his family, or a robot that has no passion whatsoever.
its like organic food, i buy because i know its better for the world
haha

The quote above was actually from H.G.Wells. Einstein's comment was, " Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving."

nice bike but your paying for the name
  • 0 0
yeah that true. but to some its worth it in our own crazy mind. ha ha ha and there nothin anyone can do or say to change that. and you know... it dont matter what you ride as long as you out there enjoying the sport. i dont remember who said this quote. but its what we should ALL ride for.

"everytime i see an adult on a bicycle, i no longer despair for the future of the human race"

TOO WRONG britty. i own an intense, and santa cruz, and a carbon colnago. i guess mama didn't teach you not to open your mouth if you don't know what you're talking about.

jealousy? right. you just keep on thinking that...meanwhile I'll be out riding one of MY multi-thousand dollar rigs.
  • 3 0
I'd rather have a life than multi-thousand dollar rigs! i bet you have been waiting for a long time brag about your facy bikes. have you ever heard the saying "its the rider, not the bike" ?
  • 1 1
hey dumb f*ck or mackdaddy or whatever your name is, i have a life...and it revolves around riding ALL THE TIME. damn right its the rider, not the bike, which is why i ride with intensity and purpose. brag? i don't need to brag because i have plenty of skill and even better fitness. and guess what: i work my ass off to pay for my toys and still find time to ride EVERY DAY. back before i could afford nice bikes I still RODE EVERYDAY. since you're obviously so bad ass, where are all the pictures of you rippin?

i'm glad you opened your mouth, its people like you who keep Pinkbike interesting
