i ride a santa cruz bullit too. made in taiwan, which is overseas, but no issues whatsoever ever with customer service from santa cruz. I disagree that VPP works SOOOO awesome. I have a VPP bike and have 5, thats right FIVE buddies who own VPP bikes...and they replace the linkage more often than with other designs. I'm not saying it doesn't work very well b/c it DOES, but it wears out VERY FAST.
Just cause a bike or parts are made in Asia, doesn't mean they're worst than U.S. parts...! I see you doesn't know that much about bike technology, if you knew you wouldn't be saying such a buuuullshit...
Cheers!
I own a Giant Faith with the Maestro system which to me is Intense/Santa Cruz' main competition suspension wize because (and ive ridden VPP) to me Maestro works wayyyyy better!! Also mention the warranty the GIANT frame comes with, also that I got a brand new 2006 Faith Frame for 750$ from a local shop... Sure beats that 2300$ any day...
If you guys wana shell out top dollar for Intense go for it!! Im not the one to tell you how to spend your pennies.... PEACE
the ethos of the company.
my first bike was a 24seven, hand made in the uk at the time (china now i think), they had an ethos back then of "fight the corporate machine" and there customer service was awesome. i was part of their family, even tho i was only 13/14 i got treated with respect!
when i upgraded, i considered many bike brands, but transition seemed to follow a similar ethos to 24seven.
i know there bikes are manufactured in taiwan or wherever but they are easy to replace and have a good crash replacement policy which i happily never needed.
when that got stolen, i thought about getting another one but decided against it purely on the basis that its appeal dissolved every day by some 12 year old posting up new pictures of there BRs.
id always admired intense for their in house build policy, and i can happily say you can see it in every weld. some american dude slaved away for hours on my frame. its his job, and i hope he does it for a reason, theres got to be some passion in it right?
the thought of that guy making frames in a shed in the us makes me happy.
much more so than a poor unfortunate chinese dude getting an average wage of less than 200 dollars a year to weld frames as fast as he can so he can feed his family, or a robot that has no passion whatsoever.
its like organic food, i buy because i know its better for the world
haha
"everytime i see an adult on a bicycle, i no longer despair for the future of the human race"
jealousy? right. you just keep on thinking that...meanwhile I'll be out riding one of MY multi-thousand dollar rigs.
i'm glad you opened your mouth, its people like you who keep Pinkbike interesting
