Vali Holl will be out for redemption after crashing in Val di Sole last round

After the Timed Training session, the Elite racers went against the clock to decide who progresses to the semi-finals.

Vali Höll returns to the top of the timing sheets as she goes fastest in qualifying by two seconds. After a tough weekend in Val di Sole, Höll is back leading the elite women's racing besting Mille Johnset to the line by 2.006 seconds. Myriam Nicole lays down a strong run on home soil as she goes third, 2.1 back.

After missing out on the win in Val di Sole, Dakotah Norton is coming out fighting in Les Gets as he sets the top time in qualifying. Norton leads a charging Rémi Thirion by 1.094 seconds as third-placed Finn Iles is over two and a half seconds off the pace.

 Great comeback victory for Dak!

Come on dak! Put it all together this week.
  • 16 2
How many good qualis has Dak had?
Just needs a bit of luck on race day.

Luck has nothing to do with this. Luck doesn't exist BTW, scientifically speaking.

@danstonQ: could’ve worded that better but we see your point. In other words - you make your own luck.

 @markcorrigan: meaningless.

@danstonQ: Not really, on quantum level you only have probabilities. Otherwise it would mean that the history of the universe is 100% deterministic and it was all set up during the big bang and now we are only playing already written roles.

@danstonQ: Must be lost on translation. I think he was using a figure of speech and you misunderstood. That or you're a total killjoy.

Either way, let's f*ckin go Dak!!!

@lkubica: I need another hit of the toad venom man.
  • 4 0
@ATXZJ: yeah just a figure of speech really, just mean he's been so close but not quite just there on race day. Didn't mean to bring the universe, determinism and negativity into it!

Would just be stoked if Dak won one Smile

 Whoa! Mille Johnset on fire!
  • 3 0
She has qualified well in the past and then had bad luck in the semi-finals. Hopefully, they'll get rid of semis and expand finals next season and we will see her in more finals. Semis are really a big F U to racers and fans.
  • 3 0
@njparider: Pretty sure they'll get rid of semis, not confident that they'll expand finals though.

 Yes! Remi!
  • 8 1
Some big names way further back than expected in elite males.
  • 8 4
I noted the same. Remy Meier-Smith, Lachlan Stevens-Mcnab and Ryan Kenneth Pinkerton all outside the top 10.
  • 10 2
@mi-bike not sure Pinkerton is a big name, yet.
  • 3 1
@mi-bike: Loic and Loris are surely bigger surprises outside the top 10
  • 1 1
@brookscurran: Bigger surprises, yes. Bigger names, no.

Will it be awkward when BK has to fire Jenna?
  • 2 0
I was wondering the same as she's obviously too distracted to even qualify this season...

 Go Grandad!

Full pull for Dak les go!!!

20 min delay for start women Junior already?
That could be annoying for semis later....
  • 1 0
Is it a delay or is live timing not working?
  • 3 0
 delay, heli on the mountain
  • 4 0
 Dakotah Friggin Norton!
  • 3 0
  lets go dak!
  • 1 0
Is the semi final anywhere to watch LIVE this afternoon?... based in the UK but can't find a chuffing thing!...
  • 1 0
@otolo: If only the UCI could put up a site that was fit for purpose.
  • 3 0
 Lets go dak

Any sign of qualis and semis getting televised, as promised? Are we still desperately trying to make DH like F1? F1 which televises all practice and qualifying.
  • 5 0
No one has ever broadcasted qualis and WBD have a history of breaking promises, so I wouldn't hold your breath if I were you.
  • 1 1
1 Red Bull F1 car is worth more than the entire sport of DH. They broadcast the shit out of F1 because they can get millions of eyes on each sponsor's logo each and every time it hits the screens. The equation was, is and will be forever thus. It's all about the Benjamins. Welcome to the free market economy.

@commental: I could be mistaken but I thought the whole idea of semis was that they’d be broadcasted, similar to sprint races in F1. For me, either broadcast semis and finals, or get rid of semis and broadcast the full top 60/80 on race day.
  • 3 0
@DannyJB: WBD stated they would broadcast semis FOC on YT, then pulled the plug without any explanation. From what I can tell they broadcast semis without commentary at the venue for the first few rounds this year, but that seems to have stopped now as well.
Considering they said they aimed to broadcast EDR stages live over 3 years ago and looking what's happened since I take anything they say with a huge pinch of salt.

@commental: Having been to Ft William this season, they bizarrely broadcasted the majority of 1 rider’s run in every 3 or 4, completely missing the others. It was actually difficult to follow when stood by the finish line.
Hate what they’ve done to the EWS (or EDR). I’ve been to loads of mtb events over the years and thought the Tweed Valley EWS was the best of the lot. Great day following the race around, good atmosphere and felt more involving than a DH WC. It isn’t a broadcast-able discipline, instead a solid race overview/highlights (similar to before) works for me.

 Wyn! Get to the finals!

Semi finals are moved for tomorrow or what? The official schedule is nowhere close to what is happening in les gets.
  • 1 0
Is it so that in Women top 10 is protected to Semis and then Top 5 is protected to Finals?
  • 2 0
Stoked to see Dylan Maples up there!

If we had redbull live stream we would know what is happening there.
  • 5 0
The piece of track that separates the apprentices from the masters.. lots of mixed ground conditions, deep ruts, bogs, deep rutty soft berms, roots, tree trunks, and steep. Riders are showing up in the track to see lines again, before semi finals
  • 12 0
@tiagomendes: when did redbull ever live stream the qualifiers?
  • 4 1
@casey79: Hey, toe the line, RB never ever ever put a foot wrong in their coverage. Apart from all the stuff that sucked.
  • 1 1
Kolb was on a top 3 till last split.. now he s out?
  • 4 0
He's protected to the semi-finals so he makes it through.
