[UPDATED] Elite Final Results & Overall Standings from the Les Gets DH World Cup 2024

Jul 6, 2024
by Ed Spratt
Les Gets delivers some of the wildest racing we have ever seen as the treacherous course provides carnage across women's and men's racing.

Eleonora Farina lays down an aggressive run as she bests the treacherous conditions to secure her first elite World Cup victory. After a controlled and masterful run in the mud Farina ends the weekend in Les Gets with a lead of 6.768 seconds against Mille Johnset. Tahnee Seagrave had a messy run as she went third after a big crash at the bottom of the course.

The French domination of the elite men's racing continues in Les Gets as Amaury Pierron puts together an unbelievable ride in the wet. After his massive win in Val di Sole, Pierron has done it again creating another all-or-nothing ride in the wet besting Andreas Kolb by nearly six and a half seconds. Greg Minnaar was first down the hill almost taking home another World Cup win as he ended the weekend in third place, 6.711 back.

Check out the results below.

 ohh Minnaar Minnaar!!
  • 9 0
 LETS GO!!!
  • 11 2
Yes. The man still is charging.
  • 9 1
 So fuckin baller
  • 8 0
And Remi! Being old doesn’t feel so bad today
  • 4 0
@nastynate711: And Cavendish a couple of days ago... "Get off my podium/lawn"
  • 4 0
Amazing to see especially at his age, and a new bike this season.
  • 122 0
Holy shit, Amaury! What a run....again.
  • 16 0
The way he negotiated the drop section was almost perfect
  • 14 1
If Rob was still in the commentary seta there would have been 2 "Look at the time"'s
  • 38 0
Gwin put it best. Never seen a run like that, since 2 weeks ago
  • 112 7
If someone interrupted me as much as Ric interrupts Aaron I'd karate chop him in the throat. Can't believe gwinn doesn't just chuck the headset and walk out.
  • 54 0
Yes but.. ricbot must. read. info. on. screen.
  • 6 1
 Yeah 100%
  • 30 0
@Mayzei: I HAVE to know what the riders pulse rate is.......I don't care about the split times HR is king!
  • 28 0
The constant interruptions are truly cringeworthy.
  • 9 0
@watchmen: The HR info is definitely a Whoop/sponsor thing.
  • 2 0
 Benjamins speak louder then Ric
  • 5 0
@IanJF: Is that what whoop is? I thought it was some crypto BS.
  • 4 0
 @Mayzei: ‘Ricbot’ brutal but fair
  • 122 29
they seriously need to fire Ric
  • 27 5
 "debut win"...

This isn't Farina's debut Ric. But congrats on the maiden win!
  • 33 3
*Tahnee -5.5 seconds split time come on screen*

Thirty seconds later Rick starts screaming, Wake up buddy, the split time has been on the screen for thirty seconds
  • 22 6
@Drims: To be fair the split times are pretty messed up today with some either not appearing or coming through delayed on the live timing feed.
  • 17 10
Ric and Josh is working about as well as I expected. Aaron should just get up and leave.
  • 9 10
 “Free point free back.”
Can we get sign language please. It is easier to understand than Ric.
  • 13 0
@gcrider: the one that got me was: "three more mouth watering riders to come"

Generally speaking the racing has been amazing this year, so the commentary doesn't take away too much.
  • 5 2
@Mugen: yeah we’re actually really fortunate this year and last, that as soon as the commentary fell off a cliff the racing went up to 11.
  • 36 8
Gwin is so good and has incredible insights to share, but I can barely stand to have the sound on as that tool Ric constantly interrupts him to yell the obvious.
  • 7 2
I had to watch on Mute.
  • 43 17
His commentary is decent - still missing Warner but this criticism is way over the top
  • 14 7
@scobu: agree, it was a bit obnoxious and calling Ollie Davis Jackson Goldstone didn't add to it, but it had a good energy, I even liked the chaotic unstructured screaming as it fit the race pretty well. I love Gwin and please let him commentate forever! But he does kind of drone on a bit too long when you're having action on the screen. Some of the interruptions were well timed and kept the energy high
  • 12 2
@daweil: agree, Rob would interrupt Claudio plenty at similar times
  • 20 4
I tried to be positive and give Ric a chance last season but at this point I have to admit that simply removing him and leaving Gwin and Josh would be a large improvement. The one that got me today was when he asked Gwin if he though Minnaar would retire if he won, in the middle of Minnaar's run. Such a weird question to ask, really took the energy out of the moment for me..
  • 3 0
@edspratt: Yo you should put the helmet cam from Amaury on the front page. That shit is legendary.
  • 12 12
Disagree, I think Ric and the team are doing a good job now. They need to get better mics for the finals interviews and analyses though.
  • 8 0
@daweil: I think you might have misheard the Jackson Goldstone ref. He was explaining something else and happened to say his name at the wrong time. It was a bit clumsy to I had the same thought as you at the time.
  • 7 1
Please shitcan Ashly while you at it.
  • 73 1
Two weeks in a row we have witnessed greatness from Amuary. I’ve watched DH for 11 years now but these runs are amazing.
  • 68 1
Gwins quote really sums it up.

"This might be the greatest downhill run we've seen since... I guess two weeks ago at Val Di Sole when he won by 5 seconds"
  • 46 1
I've gotta think that Amaury on his day is the outright fastest DH rider there's ever been. Technically brilliant, insanely aggressive and physically an absolute monster.
  • 13 11
 @wingguy: besides Gwin, yes.
  • 8 1
Amaury is on a different level. I keep wanting to see Dakota win so badly but I can't help but cheer for Amaury. What a legend.
  • 14 1
 @Benbikes94:

Donno why you're taking downvotes. Gwin and Amaury have pretty similar styles where their body doesn't move around a ton and they both seem to just smash through everything without losing any speed. Gwin was winning by margins as big or bigger than Amaury and putting on just as crazy wins. VDS by 8+ seconds, winning 75% of the races he entered for multiple years in a row. Whether you look at it statistically or from just watching them ride, comparing peak to peak Gwin was as good or better than anybody that's ever ridden DH.

And that's not even a slight on Amaury. I don't think there's ever been another rider that has such a similar riding style of smashy smash rock jesus shit as there is in Amaury.

Recency bias is strong and all, but damn it was less than 10 years ago that Gwin was destroying the field.

That said, absolutely loving watching Amaury right now. The guy is genuinely special.
  • 4 0
@William42: Agree, Gwin / Amaury have a similar invincibility and I'm big fans of both, Gwin still has the better resume and soooo many epic runs. Amaury is mid-career, so has some work to do, but Gwin's 5 overalls and 21 world cup wins can't be forgotten. That said these last two wins by Amaury are as good as it gets.
  • 71 0
Eleonora's first WC win, Mille's best finish as an Elite rider. Congratulations to both.
  • 28 0
This had been a long time coming for Eleonora. She has always proven to be amazing in the tougher/rougher stuff and I actually expected her first win to be in Val di Sole or Andorra, but the conditions here were tough too and she took it. Amazing DH racer, happy to see her win. Congrats!
  • 2 0
Am I mistaken, or was her Italian accent a lot stronger than usual in the interview because she was so excited? (That's what happens to my friends from UK, India, southern US, etc.)
  • 3 2
@vinay: Aron could have taken some credit for the bike but he didn't...
  • 11 0
So stoked for Eleonora! She's worked so hard and put so much on the line for DH over the years. An extremely well deserved win!
  • 6 0
@ABhardtail: Usually when emotions or fatigue comes the native accent always come back. That is my experience as an expat speaking another language every day.
  • 69 23
 I really dislike the chainsaws.
  • 26 3
 Same here. Antisocial
  • 5 5
Yeah, seems like they've completely taken over from the vuvuzelas everyone loved to much. Can't understand why we're still hearing those chainsaws when all it takes is bring in a couple of Wimbledon referees to the event. UCI and Discovery are properly in touch with the sport so it wouldn't take long for them to pick this up.
  • 12 2
Me too. I do state-level enduro races (U.S.) and they always seem to be at the most difficult parts of the race. They've definitely broken my concentration a few times.
  • 6 1
Bring it up at the riders meeting next time.
  • 22 1
@ADHDMI: I did. They couldn’t hear me over the sound of the chainsaws.
  • 7 0
#longlivechainsaw. But I agree - the noise at every race is tiresome.
  • 2 0
Chainsaws have part of the European (particularly French) downhill scene since the 90's. Shaun Palmer even refers to it is in one of Clay Porters films, can't remember which. It's not new, definitely not a Stevie Smith reference, at least not here (currently in Les Gets)
  • 5 0
@markdavid: yes I suppose so. I still prefer the cowbells.
  • 41 1
a 42 year old on the podium. Unbelievable.
  • 6 0
I hope he still makes it to the podium by the time he's 44 years old. That would imply there is still a future in WC DH racing for me.
  • 1 0
@vinay: you forgot his legs ain't from this world...
  • 5 0
@PauRexs: Mine neither. Ever seen E.T.?
  • 1 0
@vinay: yes he had short legs and long torso more suitable to enduro... :p
  • 16 0
@PauRexs: Seems like you need to watch the movie again. Pretty sure E.T. has a BMX background.
  • 38 2
There is no better sport in the world. Period
  • 49 5
 Have you seen topless darts?
  • 7 6
 @hhaaiirryy: Lingerie Football League
  • 36 3
Eleanora did a almost clean, composed run and no commentary on it.... I hope she wins
  • 20 1
They spent most of Louise Ferguson's run talking about painting helmets!
  • 13 0
 @beermtb: true.

Ele was committed and calculated and deserved it. The other racers all rode well on that track. It looks as slippery as as a politician when backed up into a corner, hopefully no big injuries for all.

Very entertaining race.
  • 34 5
Does Ric get paid by the word?
  • 1 1
 This 1000%
  • 30 1
HE'S SO BACK what have I just watched?????
  • 26 0
Amaury moves up from 4th to 2nd in the overall, behind only Loic. He's 216 points back, but he's made up more than 300 points in the last 2 races. Two races ago he was in 10th in the standings. Amazing.
  • 7 0
I'd really like him to take the overall. He deserves it so much. Most impressive come back ever.
  • 26 0
This track was "beautiful" and "fun" says Amaury Pierron. I don't think the other riders share this opinion, lol
  • 4 0
Well it is beautiful and fun for a pro rider. Since he makes hem look all like amateurs in comparison these last few weeks it makes sense...
  • 27 4
I'm losing my mind. I didn't actually count but I promise the commentary team averaged over 1 "If anyone can do it..."s per run. Literally going insane. You get to use exactly one of those per race. That's how it f*cking works. It's turned into a Pavlovian trigger and now I'm untethered in my rage.
  • 25 0
That clear run from MINNAAR is gonna give him a top result
  • 24 0
Eleanora Farina! Get the win. Fantastic. So happy for her.
  • 17 0
Did anyone else notice how fast Tahnee was riding before her crash?? She was crushing the field, wish she could have held it together in the steeps
  • 26 8
Is that Ric a diversity hire?
  • 14 0
Awesome racing at the top, but I'm also excited that Phil Atwill finally had a decent race (making the finals and getting a top 20). I love watching him ride and I imagine Propain is more likely to continue to sponsor him with some good race results.
  • 6 0
Agreed. If there’s any rider whose skill I could transplant it would be Phil.
  • 5 0
@FourCandles: Absolutely. I understand that there are "better" riders in the racing sense, but there is no one who gives me more of the "man it would be fun to ride like that" feeling.
  • 13 1
They should rename Greg Minnaar as the Phoenix. Rising from injury of a shoulder that should be operated on, a new bike that he's taken a while to get to know, and totally defying his age. This was a tough track and although he didn't win, look at those in the field he beat. No doubt about it, he is back!
  • 16 0
 This is carnage
  • 2 2
Yes, the party is wasted. Too bad
  • 10 0
 @danstonQ: not for Amaury
  • 4 0
@purplegorillaz: well said buddy. Amaury on another planet. The Boss, literally.
  • 2 0
That looked like one of the gnarliest tracks I've ever seen lmao. Especially when people came off the bike, slid down the hill, then couldn't even get the grip to get back to the marker. Absolutely brutal but man Amaury is beyond amazing.
  • 15 0
Good to see Minnaar on the podium and Amaury totally ruling, again.
  • 14 0
Grande Ele!!! What a run! The win was long overdue!!
  • 11 1
Gwin is such a humble guy. He’s had some of the most iconic runs, including his run in Mont-Saint-Anne in similar conditions, which helped him win the overall title . Yet he has no problem saying the current run is the best in history.
  • 15 1
 Greg mother*king Minnar!
  • 12 0
Amazing race! I was hoping the best for Minnaar, but what a run from Amaury, what a beast!!!
  • 10 0
I don't know what I'm most excited about - Farina's first win after ten years of racing, Minaar's podium at age 42 after qualifying last, or Pierron's absolutely insane run. What a day!
  • 14 2
Damn what a clean run by Greg Minaar!
  • 11 0
He's just in his own league at the moment 6 seconds... Can't believe it And I thought Minaar's time was untouchable...
  • 13 3
Broadcast's on without commentary. This is nice.
  • 2 1
Oh here they are, nothing lasts forever I guess
  • 24 2
To balance out the negativity: Gwin remains great and Carlson is really good too this time around.
  • 17 1
@boozed: Ric and Josh are so obviously fighting over the job by seeing who can talk the most. Aaron actually has something interesting to say and gets talked over.
  • 3 1
I had an option to watch it without commentary in the language choice
  • 8 1
So torn apart. I love Amaury and am so happy for him to be back and win in front of the home crowed. But on the other hand I’d have loved to see Minnaar take this one and retire from his amazing career with a bang
  • 5 0
I feel like Greg doesn’t want to go out on a low, but if he wins he won’t want to retire!
  • 9 0
Great ride from Finn... but this track will take you down eventually
  • 8 0
 Taking that back...
  • 13 4
I didn't know Johnny Vegas manages the Canyon factory team
  • 12 3
OH MY GOD AMAURY PIERRON!!!! THAT WAS THE BEST RUN I'VE EVER SEEN!!!!!!
  • 8 1
"ever" is just 2 weeks ago then Wink
  • 5 0
Am I allowed to complain about the lack of coverage of the women’s entire race?
We saw about 10 seconds of Phoebe Gale’s entire run and half of the women had the first two or three minutes cut off from their run.
Even Vali’s first 44 seconds were chopped off.
These are the 10 fastest women on the planet Frown
  • 8 0
Pierron should get bonus points for this two legendary runs
  • 9 0
 Pierron disappeared lmao
  • 4 0
wonder if something happened with dak, these aren't his favourite conditions but he was riding like something was wrong. maybe water between the rolloffs? he was running a way smaller front fender than others as well which felt like an odd choice, great race though
  • 2 0
Yeah that was sad, really want to see him win finally. Seemed like he got thrown off a bit and it just killed his confidence. Lost some time then he's fighting to get it back but that throws him off more and it just spirals away.
  • 2 0
@DylanH93: wyntv just dropped and it looks like I was right, water got between rolloffs and he couldnt see. huge bummer for him
  • 7 0
OMG Ele, over the moon for you!!!!!
  • 8 0
 NO WAAAAAY AMAURY!!!
  • 7 0
Classic Amaury spanking, you love to see it again!
  • 6 0
That run from Amaury plus his 'fun track' interview is total Hill 07 Champery vibe. I fucking love him.
  • 10 7
Unpopular opinion, but I think Ric does a great job! I much prefer him over Josh. Either way, the producers have to grow a pair, pick two people and show confidence in them by only having the two of them in the booth each race. Three people is too many.
  • 6 5
 I like Ric too.
  • 7 0
I was cool with Ric but more and more I'm getting tired of him. If he could just talk like 30% less it would be much more enjoyable.
  • 7 0
 HES A MONSTER
  • 5 0
This is why I always put Pierron on all my teams Rest of my results are pretty blown up besides Asa though
  • 4 0
What a race! These interviews and after race chats they have right beside the finish line are pretty pointless today, you can't hear anything with that crowd
  • 2 0
And it's so long and thanks for the memories AP.

I knew that picking you first in my Fantasy team at $150k early days you were never going to last too long!

Seriously though, what a rider. Freakin incredible stuff. To not take a foot off in those conditions. And that mid-air goggle tear, OMG

Bonkers
  • 3 0
Can you ride the top half of this track, obviously when there's no racing on. I know the top lift doesn't operate in summer but could you ride/hike to the top and ride it?
  • 2 0
Have also been thinking about this, would love to know
  • 2 0
I imagine you can. I’ve only taken the lift during the ‘23 WC, and nobody is up there besides the riders. Just an empty mountain top. Many of the parks there are interconnected and allow free roaming between the parks, so I imagine so. You only have to pay for the lift access. So if you want to pedal it’s free access.
  • 5 1
Im there next week. If it dries up ill ride the ebike up and take a look.
  • 1 0
@ThatEbikeGuy: nice, we rode from the lake down last year and was good, just didn't know if there was a realistic way of getting to the top
  • 1 0
@Tommy-P87: looks like the chairlift is called le pointe and goes up another 300m. There is an access road on google earth. Ill definitely go for a quick ride up there and take a look over the next 2 weeks.
  • 1 0
@ThatEbikeGuy: yeah the lift that goes up as far as the lake is running but the top lift doesn't run in the summer. Ebike be ideal for scouting it out.
  • 9 6
I’m not even 1% of a pro racer, but I can’t help thinking those incredibly high bars are a disadvantage for Dak in the wet.
  • 5 0
 Amaury cementing his legend !!
  • 4 0
Will Pinkbike produce a video compilation of all the riders who were bested by the wet?
  • 1 0
Great idea. Come on Pink bike!
  • 4 0
Man this race is nasty as, looks like so much fun.
  • 5 1
The last part is just impossible to ride now...
  • 4 0
Kolb showed what's possible, and then came down Amaury and just rode it like it's dry
  • 2 0
My family won’t be happy. I was always saying that I will be riding until last Minnar WC win age. So 3 more years for me …
  • 4 0
Oh my god, Kolb did it! Really thought it was impossible
  • 5 0
 Classic Pierron
  • 4 0
What a sport!! Fk yeah how good!! Amuary on his day, no one’s faster.
  • 5 1
 Grande Eleonora!!!! Cosa m1nkia aspettavi!!!!??
  • 2 0
Did they move the start time up for mens elite? I thought the race started at 2pm Les Gets time?
  • 4 0
Yep. Heavy storms in the afternoon, they had to move it.
  • 2 0
Perfect Conditions for a SAM HILL historic run for the books
  • 3 0
 we now have Amaury
  • 1 0
 @snomaster: ..."sticked in"
  • 3 0
 Momoooooooo what a run!
  • 2 0
 Sorry what… Amaury f*$king Hill
  • 1 0
Did Greg have a better track or did he just show his old self? Hoping for the latter, obviously.
  • 13 0
Looked to me like he put together a really clean run and just held a good pace
  • 10 2
@JamesKROZ: According to Aaron and Greg himself, the track conditions were about as bad as they could be when Greg went through and additional rain would actually increase grip. No doubt certain sections kept getting worse as more riders smeared themselves across it, such as that steep right hander 3/4 the way down.
  • 4 0
finally smelled prey... and completely switched where he belongs...
  • 1 0
Anyone know the site with a livestream?

  • 13 4
Drone was mad az! Don’t know what you’re going on about!
  • 2 3
that drone looks from 2 decades ago... compared to the redbull one... WB doesn't want to share its multimillion dolar studio gadgets... shame shame
  • 1 0
@PauRexs: go watch the hardline Tasmania again. Redbull have never pulled off the drone shot.
  • 1 0
@Joe89: go watch full run of hardline wales in a drone.. this is the benchmark.
  • 2 0
@PauRexs: that wasn’t live. Different tech

Lol the entrance of "black woods" taking out every rider
  • 2 0
 Daje xazzo!
  • 1 0
 Pierron went outside the course?
  • 1 0
 What race time?
  • 2 0
@boozed: On the gap jump after the really bad switchbacks near the end. But then Dak took same line, maybe it's not a course marker.
  • 1 0
19 and 20th place missing from results
