Chatel MTN Style Contest - Results

The 2nd Châtel Mountain Style Contest, an international downhill mountain biking event in freeride and slopestyle disciplines for professionals and amateurs, with Timo Pritzel as honour guest, a €6000 prize purse together with different sponsors’ prizes, was promising a very high level of competition this year.

Here's what went down:The course (160 meters drop in elevation, 300 meters long and 100 meters large, with grassy, earthy and stony types!), made of natural and artificial units (step-up, step-down, wall-ride, dirt double, rocky bar…) especially prepared for the event by the riders of Radical Films (Kranked) in Châtel for the contest, Ben Walker (Scott team and well-known in the mountain biking circuit), the Châtel’s bike patrols and Sébastien Giraldi (the leader of the Châtel’s bike patrols) allowed the registered riders to put on a show and ride to the best of their abilities.

Training took place on Friday and Saturday morning, then on Saturday afternoon under the sun, the ranking session (which could be taken for the final if the weather was not good on Sunday, and that was the case!). The amateur riders could really let it all out in their own expression on a very technical trail. The professional riders had also a good inspiration because they did 360s, backflips, tailwhips… a real involvement for sure with very flowing chosen lines, and very quick descents…

All the criteria for freeride were put together on that face on Saturday afternoon for a very good spectacle! The jury lead by Ben Walker was very enthusiastic!

On Saturday, hip hop Dj named H.M.C.E.E. mixed for the ambiance!

On Saturday evening, the dirt contest took place on the place of the church with a big public crowd, and the show went off�� We could see backflips, whips, 720 and others… The landing was a very nice earthy mogul… a good motivation for the riders!

Finally, the €1000 prizemoney was shared by all the participants.

On Sunday, initially the finals’ day, the weather conditions changed and forced the organizers to change the program, and the prize giving took place at Plaine-Dranse at ending morning in a chalet in a very king ambiance…

The appointment is given next year for the 3rd edition!
