If your July 4th plans included reading a new book on your Kindle by the pool, you might need to make different arrangements.
An ongoing outage is currently preventing Amazon Kindle owners from downloading new and previously purchased books to their e-readers. If you haven’t downloaded that book already, you’re currently SOL.
Amazon is aware of the issue and is working on a fix; however, that fix might take a while. On Wednesday, it told Good e-Reader that the issue is server-based and “it would be at least 48 hours before ebooks started downloading again, but it could be longer.”
Currently, the issue only impacts Amazon devices such as the Paperwhite, Oasis, Signature Edition, and the Kindle Basic and not the company’s apps, so you can download books on your phone or tablet in the meantime.
