Dodge obstacles with ease and film in 4K
$879.99 at Best Buy
$1,099.99 Save $220.00

Here's a juicy $220 off of a drone that we gave an "Excellent" rating to in our review, proclaiming that the DJI Air 3 "is a smooth operator thanks to its versatile wide-angle and telephoto cameras, fantastic obstacle avoidance sensors, and lengthy battery life." This is a midrange drone that excels in numerous areas. Filming is easy with gimbal-stabilized 4K cameras and 60-degree upward tilt, and you can do fancy hyperlapse and slow-motion effects with ease. The twin-stick RC-N2 remote controller gives you precise piloting, and built-in sensors help steer clear of hazards.

Getting a quadcopter that handles 4K video for under two hundred bucks is an absolute steal, and while Holy Stone's HS360S isn't the best when it comes to handling or battery life, it's still a really great drone for beginners. With a maximum active range of up to 10,000 feet combined with precise GPS positioning letting it return to its launch point with ease, you can fly without worry. Autel Robotics EVO Lite+ Premium Bundle

$1,019.99 at Best Buy
$1,199.99 Save $180.00

If camera quality is paramount for you, Autel's EVO Lite+ drone is a top contender. In our review, we said that it "doesn't preload its drones with geographic-based takeoff restrictions, unlike the market leader, DJI." Sporting a 6K video camera with a variable-aperture 1-inch sensor, it captures incredible footage in a variety of situations. Three-way obstacle sensors, GPS and automatic return to home make it a breeze to fly. The battery is also sizable, giving you up to 40 minutes in the air between swaps. It's a little pricey, but saving $180 makes it easier to swallow.

FAQ

FAQ

Do I need a license to fly a drone?

If you are piloting a drone for recreational (non-commercial) reasons, you do not need to get a license from the Federal Aviation Administration. That comes with some restrictions, including not being allowed to fly one 400 feet above the ground or near airports. These restrictions vary for commercial operators as well as drones under a certain weight.

How do I register my drone?

Federal Aviation Administration rules require that any drone over 0.55 pounds be registered with their system at the FAA DroneZone website. That registration costs $5 and is valid for three years. You will need to be over the age of 13 to register a drone and provide personal information, including address, phone number and the model number and serial number of your drone.

What kind of camera do I need for my drone?

As you'd expect, the nicer the camera the more you can expect to pay for a drone. High-end models are capable of capturing 4K video, but if you're not interested in the photography angle and just want to fly, there's no reason to shell out extra money for a fancier camera when a 1080p one will be fine. Racing drones cut down on the camera equipment for lighter weight and more powerful propellers, making them a good option in that case.
