UPDATED:

A 56-year-old woman jumped from a Walt Disney World ferryboat Monday evening in an apparent suicide attempt, said a spokesman from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman, whose name has not been released by officials, was accompanied by people she knew on the ferryboat sailing on the Seven Seas Lagoon near The Magic Kingdom, said Cpl. Antwan Daniels.

Daniels said the woman intentionally jumped into the lagoon at about 7 p.m. A rescue unit found her and transported her to a local hospital, where she is being treated and will receive a mental evaluation.

Ferryboats on the Seven Seas Lagoon transport guests to The Magic Kingdom park from the Transportation and Ticket Center. Officials have not said if the woman was headed toward or away from the park.

Officials from Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District initially responded to the incident and called in OCSO, Daniels said.

A Disney spokeswoman referred questions to the OCSO when asked for comment.

If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255.
