George Anthony, the father of Casey Anthony, drove off the road and flipped his car on Interstate 4 in Volusia County Saturday, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Anthony told troopers he did not remember what happened before the crash, according to the report, which said he may have had a medical issue that caused him to drive off the road. The report did not specify what the issue may have been.

Anthony was driving a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner on I-4 westbound in Volusia County, between the exits for State Road 44 and U.S. Highway 92. He went off the right shoulder of the highway and lost control of the car as he tried to swerve back onto the road, FHP records show.

His car flipped over several times, crossed three lanes of the highway and finally stopped on the median, according to the crash report.

The trooper who responded to the crash described his injuries as “incapacitating,” records show.

He was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center.

Casey Anthony was acquitted in 2011 of first-degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee. The case put the family in the national spotlight. At trial, Casey Anthony’s defense team claimed the toddler drowned in the family’s pool and accused her father of covering up the death.

George Anthony never faced any charges in the case, and has said in interviews that he no longer speaks with his daughter.
