UPDATED:

The Hurricanes will head west for their season opener in 2027 and play under the Las Vegas lights.

Miami will begin its campaign that season against Utah in the Vegas Kickoff Classic, the team announced Monday afternoon. The date for the game has not been announced.

The season-opener will be held at Allegiant Stadium, the home of the Las Vegas Raiders.

“We are excited to kick off the 2027 season against Utah in the Vegas Kickoff Classic,” Miami athletic director Dan Radakovich said in a press release. “It not only gives our program an opportunity to play a great non-conference opponent on a national stage, but also gives our fans the chance to cheer on the Hurricanes in a world-class venue at a destination location.”

It also will be the first time that Miami plays Utah.

The Utes moved from the PAC-12 to the Big 12 for the upcoming season. Utah went 8-5 last season.

The Hurricanes have other high-profile non-conference games scheduled the next several years. In 2025, UM will face Florida at home in a rematch of this year’s season opener in Gainesville. The Hurricanes will also host Notre Dame next year. Miami has a home-and-home scheduled with South Carolina for 2026 and 2027, going to Columbia, South Carolina, first before playing the Gamecocks in Florida in 2027.

Notre Dame is on the schedule again in 2028, and a home-and-home with Auburn is on deck in 2029 and 2030.
