UPDATED:

Furry friends of all kinds have the chance to end up on the label of a wine bottle, thanks to an annual contest from Orlando’s Pet Alliance in partnership with Quantum Leap Winery.

The “My Best Friend Wine Label Contest” returns for its 11th year, giving pet parents the opportunity to have their cat or dog featured on a bottle of wine. Entries are accepted through July 31 with a $5 fee per entry, then voting is open Aug. 1-24. The contest raises funds for the organization as each vote is cast with a $1 donation.

“It’s always exciting to see proud pet parents showing off their adorable fur babies and seeing all the fun photos that come in,” Steve Bardy, Pet Alliance’s executive director, said in a news release. “For folks who want to support our organization and don’t know how, it’s the perfect opportunity.

“We are very grateful for all of the support we receive through the contest and cannot wait to see all of this year’s cute contenders.”

The dog and cat with the most votes will be featured with a photo, name and short story on the wine label for the 2024 “My Best Friend Rescue Red Wine” from Quantum Leap, which is set to reopen this month in its new location on Lake Fairview. Grand prize winners also will receive a case (12 bottles) of wine and a feature in the Pet Alliance “Wags and Whiskers” newsletter.

The runners-up in each category will be awarded prizes, as well. Each of the winners and families will be invited to an event at Quantum Leap’s new location on a date yet to be determined.

Pet Alliance has raised a total of nearly $380,000 from the contest. The organization helps more than 3,500 homeless dogs and cats each year by providing shelter, veterinary care, a pet food pantry, adoptions and education on animal welfare.
