UCF men’s basketball has reportedly secured the verbal commitment from JUCO transfer guard Dior Johnson.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound point guard averaged 29.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game at Clarendon (Texas) Community College, which finished 23-10 last season.
Johnson was a 4-star prospect from Southern California Academy who signed with Pittsburgh’s 2022 recruiting class. Because of legal troubles, he never played and left the program. The New York native committed to Syracuse and Oregon the following season before winding up at Clarendon CC.

At the time he was recruited, Johnson was the No. 42 overall player in the country, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He attended several different high schools, including IMG Academy in Bradenton, before landing at SCA for his senior season.
Johnson would become the 10th overall player to join the Knights’ roster this offseason and the fifth guard along with Jordan Ivy-Curry (UTSA), Dallan Coleman (Georgia Tech), Keyshawn Hall (George Mason) and Cameron Simpson (Oak Ridge High School).
UCF finished 17-16 overall, including 7-11 in its first season in the Big 12.
