A judge sentenced an international actor to 15 years and eight months in prison for having sex with a Florida teen.

U.S. District Judge Wendy Berger sentenced 46-year-old Sweden actor Joaquin Nabi Olsson on Thursday for using the internet and social media to convince the girl to have sex with him, the Department of Justice said.

Court documents said Olsson met the 14- or 15-year-old online in 2018.

He talked frequently with her throughout various online platforms and when he found out the victim had a troubled home life, he acted as a rescuer, the DOJ reported.

“Eventually, Olsson revealed his sexual interest in the child victim, and engaged her romantically through their online communications, calling her his “wife” and expressing his intention to move to Florida to marry her,” according to a statement.

Olsson flew from Sweden to Florida to meet with her in March and May 2019, and they engaged in sexual conduct.

Authorities arrested Olsson on July 20, 2019, after they found him with the victim at a hotel in Brevard County, according to the DOJ.

Homeland Security, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the Palm Bay Police Department collaborated on the case.

Homeland Security Assistant Special Agent in Charge David Pezzuti said Olsson “thought he could use international borders to abuse children and avoid law enforcement detection.”

Judge Berger ordered Olsson to serve a five-year term of supervised release and register as a sex offender.
