UPDATED:

A Florida mother was shot in front of her two children Tuesday night. Now, the St. Petersburg community is demanding justice for her.

K’Mia Simmons, 21, was in a car at the St. Pete intersection of 22nd Street and 18th Avenue when a suspect fired several shots into the vehicle, according to a report by WFTS, an ABC affiliated news station serving Tampa.

Her children, ages 1 and 2, were in the car when Simmons died.

One bullet reportedly struck a child’s booster seat, but that child was in Simmons’ arms.

St. Petersburg Police Department officers do not think Simmons was the intended target.

The driver in Simmons’ car took the children and ran from the shooting, WFTS reported.

SPPD is looking for that driver for questioning.
