Kjerstin Gabrielson, Here is Oregon editor, coordinates coverage that showcases the best of Oregon, working with a team of staff and freelance journalists across the state. She joined The Oregonian as a news copy editor specializing in regional news in 1999. Since then, she's served in the newsroom as a listings editor, hyperlocal journalist based in Washington County, community engagement specialist and Life & Culture editor. Kjerstin started her journalism career at the University Daily Kansan at the University of Kansas, where she received a bachelor's degree in journalism. After growing up in Wichita, Kansas, she discovered the beauty of Oregon during a college internship at the Salem Statesman Journal. She returned to the Northwest after nine years as a copy editor, designer and news editor at the St. Petersburg Times in Florida.
