4-star safety Jaylan Morgan commits to Georgia: ‘The development at Georgia is out of this world’
Georgia made a big move for Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Rockvale four-star safety Jaylan Morgan during the Scavenger Hunt event on May 20. He got to spend time with head coach Kirby Smart, co-defensive coordinator/safeties coach Travaris Robinson and defensive backs coach Donte Williams.
Morgan left Athens impressed that everybody around the program wants to help the Bulldogs become a “dynasty” in college football. The 5-foot-11.5, 190-pound defensive back returned to Georgia from June 21-23 for his official visit and proceeded to commit to the SEC program on Monday over Florida, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
“The development at Georgia is out of this world,” Morgan told On3. “I haven’t seen anybody besides Alabama when it was coached by Nick Saban produce constant talent for the NFL like Georgia does. I previously had relationships with coach Robinson and coach Williams before they got to Georgia. For them to come to the same school and have the same vision for me, that stuck out to me.”
Georgia ‘feels like home’ to Morgan
Georgia has hosted Morgan four times and believes that the Bulldogs will give him the best chance to accomplish his goals on and off the field. The academic opportunities at Georgia played a key role in his decision.
Another reason why the No. 5 player in Tennessee is taking his talents to Georgia is because of how the Bulldogs’ coaches work their players hard, yet also allow them to have fun. He has already developed bonds with multiple players such as cornerbacks Demello Jones, Ellis Robinson IV and Daylen Everette, along with safety KJ Bolden.
“It’s like a family reunion, but competitive when I am there,” said Morgan, the No. 252 overall prospect and No. 24 safety in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. “It feels like home. It feels like I’ve known these people for a long time. My first long conversation with coach Smart was at the Scavenger Hunt and we hit it off. I was hitting it off with everybody.”
Morgan is excited to play for Georgia’s coaches
Smart made a very positive impression on Morgan during his recruitment. He is looking forward to playing for him once he arrives on campus.
“He’ll give you advice and treat you like family, but he’ll also get you in line when he needs to,” Morgan said. “He’ll love you on and off the field, but he’ll be tough on you on the field, from what I’ve seen. I feel like I need that.”
Morgan is excited to become part of a very successful program when he joins Georgia. The Bulldogs have won two out of the last three national championships and are one of the favorites to win the title this season.
Learning from Smart, Robinson and Williams also has Morgan optimistic about his future in Athens. Robinson and Williams came to Georgia from Alabama and USC, respectively, after sending multiple defensive backs to the NFL.
“Getting developed by these coaches will help me ascend to what I want to be as a football player,” Morgan said. “At the end of the day, Georgia has proven itself with development. I don’t care what anybody says. They have produced the best NFL talent and right now, that’s the place with the best opportunity for me.”
