Edmond police have arrested a suspect after a deceased female was discovered at a U-Haul self-storage facility.

According to an Edmond Police Department press release, officers responded to a call regarding a possible deceased person at the storage facility at 12:25 p.m. on Friday. There they discovered the body of 30-year-old Elyse Marie Betz.

Betz was staying at a nearby hotel with the 36-year-old suspect, who was wanted out of North Carolina for federal probation violation, according to the release.

Police located the suspect at another hotel in Edmond and arrested him on his outstanding warrant. That's when he reportedly confessed to a pact with Betz to kill themselves by overdosing on methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The suspect reportedly told police that on July 4, he and Betz fled their hotel parking lot on foot and ended up at the U-Haul storage facility where they decided to overdose.

Edmond police reported that the suspect admitted to administering the fatal dose to Betz after injecting himself.

The suspect has not yet been formally charged, according to the Oklahoma County Court Clerk's office.

The autopsy and toxicology results from the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office are pending.
