“The Daily Show” comedian Jon Stewart unleashed an angry tirade against President Joe Biden on Monday, accusing him of eroding Americans’ confidence and faith in the government.

Biden issued a letter to Democratic leaders Monday urging unity from his party amid intense national scrutiny of his mental and physical capabilities. In that message, he made a defiant stance against those who called for him to back down from his reelection bid.

Get on board or shut the f--- up’ is not a particularly compelling pro-democracy bumper sticker,” Stewart said of Biden’s response to backlash from his party. “Nor is ‘what are you going to do?’”

Americans, Stewart added, are frustrated by their choices in the 2024 election and are craving a different option. Democrats, he said, should seize the opportunity and use it to give the people what they want.

“I am in no way saying ‘Biden’s gotta drop out,’” Stewart said. “But can’t we stress test this candidacy? Can’t we open up the conversation? Do you understand the opportunity here? Do you understand how thirsty Americans are for any hint of inspiration or leadership and a release from this choice of a megalomaniac and a suffocating gerontocracy?”

“All we want is someone to keep it 100,” he added. “The percentage, not the age.”

The upcoming Democratic convention, Stewart said, is an excellent opportunity for Democrats to ensure Americans felt heard by the party. He suggested Biden face off against another Democratic candidate and allow the delegates to vote on which they think could perform better as president.

“Take the advice of your own candidate,” Stewart told Democrats, referring to a clip from 2023 in which Biden suggested “probably 50” Democratic politicians could defeat former President Donald Trump.

Reporters on Monday drilled White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre regarding visitor records which showed a Parkinson’s disease expert from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center had visited the White House multiple times since summer 2023. Jean-Pierre provided few details about the visits, citing privacy concerns.

A letter from the White House late Monday confirmed Dr. Cannard had examined Biden for his annual physicals.
