The One Show's Alex Jones was swapped out during the episode that aired on Tuesday, July 9, as she embarks on a significant new chapter in her life. The Welsh host started the week alongside Lauren Laverne on Monday, July 8, but Vernon Kay stepped in for tonight's episode.

Alex is a regular face on The One Show, having held her position since 2010, and often shares the stage with Jermaine Jenas, who is currently in Germany for the Euros 2024, and Roman Kemp. However, all three main presenters were switched out on Tuesday as Lauren and Vernon took over.

Joining them were actors Daisy Edgar Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos, stars of the new blockbuster Twisters, along with Alan Carr, who hopped onto the famous green sofa to chat about the comeback of eighties sitcom Changing Ends.

While Alex's absence wasn't mentioned, the mum-of-three is in the midst of moving house and has been keeping her 363,000 Instagram followers in the loop with her packing progress as she gets ready to relocate her family from their home of the past 11 years.

Earlier this week, Alex shared the "news" and revealed she was moving in three weeks as she sifted through her children's memory boxes and sought packing advice from fans. She told her followers: "This was emotional. After 11 years, we are moving house," followed by a crying face emoji, reports Wales Online.

On Tuesday night, Alex took to her Instagram Story to tell her followers that her life is "currently boxes," as she packed up a bookshelf and showcased a room filled with cardboard boxes and Ikea bags.

The 47-year-old presenter graced The One Show sofa on Monday evening and had an exciting update for her fans.

Alex, alongside co-host Lauren, kicked off the show with some thrilling Strictly Come Dancing news, revealing exclusively that Aljaz Skorjanec is making a comeback to the professional dance squad after a two-year break.

Due to football coverage, The One Show will not air on Wednesday, July 10, but fans can expect Alex back on their screens on Thursday, July 11.
