Kate Middleton is reportedly "heartbroken" following a disagreement with Prince William over where their eldest son, Prince George, should attend secondary school after finishing his time at Lambrook School in Berkshire. Both Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry, were educated at Eton College, breaking away from the older Royal tradition of attending Gordonstoun in Scotland.
However, while William is keen for George to follow in his footsteps, Kate is said to be less than thrilled about the idea. According to a source who spoke to Touch Weekly, Kate is strongly opposed to sending George to the prestigious boys' boarding school. The Duchess of Cambridge was allegedly bullied at her first boarding school, which has influenced her decision.
The source claimed that Kate "can't bear the thought of George suffering through that."
Kate's own schooling experience saw her attend Downe House, a girls' boarding school in Berkshire, which she reportedly "hated" and left mid-term. She then moved to Marlborough College, a co-educational boarding school in Wiltshire, where she completed her education, reports the Mirror.
This is the school she would prefer George to attend. The source added: "Kate thinks sending George to such a stuffy, upper-crust institution goes against all of their efforts to modernise the monarchy."
The issue is said to be a major problem in the Wales' household and the source claimed the couple have spent hours "arguing" over the decision. They said: "Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away, even though it's tradition."
However, it would appear is "finally giving in" to her husband's wishes and he appears to have "won" the argument.
After nursery school, Prince William was educated at Wetherby Prep School and then went on to attend Ludgrove School in Berkshire, before attending Eton College from 1995-2000. Similarly, Kate was educated locally at St Andrew's School before attending two exclusive private schools.
Tuition for Eton is around £53,300, according to the school's website.
It's also been revealed that Princess Kate keeps in touch with her brood using a relatable app. With her shock cancer diagnosis and her subsequent stay at the London Clinic, it would undoubtedly have been a tough time for Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five.
It's thought the 41-year-old Princess kept in touch with the youngsters using FaceTime, especially while Prince William was looking after the trio at Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Estate.
