A photo of Kate Middleton with her kids has been taken down by a number of photo agencies as they claimed it was "edited".

On Mother's Day, March 11, a new picture of the Princess of Wales and her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, in Windsor. The image was shared on the Kensington Royal social media accounts.

However, hours later, the Associated Press and other big photo groups sent out a "kill notice" to news places all over the world and took the photo out of their collections. The Associated Press said: "At closer inspection it appears that the source has manipulated the image."

It comes after some royal fans noticed an odd detail about Princess Charlotte's sleeve and Prince George's hand. Photographer Martin Bamford shared the photo online and said: "Professional photographer here. Look closely at Princess Charlotte's wrist. This is what happens when you composite layers in Photoshop. I'm not speculating on why the photo was edited like this, but it's weird."

Kensington Palace did not to give a response when asked if the image had been edited.

The lovely snap, which was taken by none other than Prince William himself, was shared on their official social media channels. Alongside the photo, Kate shared a heartfelt message, thanking everyone, saying: "Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months. Wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day. C."

The incident comes shortly after palace staff publicly expressed their frustrations about "the madness of social media" following many theories surrounding Kate's public absence which originated from online platforms. Given the online theories and concerns about Princess Kate as a result of her being out of the public eye since Christmas, Kensington Palace found it necessary to react with an uncommon public statement.

Speaking on behalf of the palace, a representative clarified: "Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess' recovery and we'd only be providing significant updates. That guidance stands."

The spokesperson reassured the public that the Princess is doing "well".
