Sarah Ferguson has opened up about her relationship with her granddaughter Sienna in a rare glimpse into the life of Princess Beatrice and her family.

The Duchess of York has launched a brand new podcast along with her pal Sarah Thomson, titled Tea Talks With The Duchess and Sarah.

Speaking on the second episode of the new show, the 63 year old told listeners that one year old Sienna is “very very strong” - something she attributes to the tot’s close bond with her older half-brother.

Sienna is Princess Beatrice’s daughter with her property developer husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who has a son, seven year old Christopher “Wolfie” Woolf, from a previous relationship.

Beatrice is now step-mum to Wolfie, whose mum is high-flying Harvard educated American architect Dara Huang.

Wolfie lives full time with his mum in Kensington, London, but regularly spends time with his dad and half-sibling.

Sarah Ferguson shared that her granddaughter “has to” be “really strong” because of her much older brother and that the siblings share a close bond.

“Wolfie says come on Sienna, and off they go, they’re very close and have a great relationship,” the Duchess of York said.

The proud grandmother also revealed on the podcast that she’s already introducing Sienna to a beloved British tradition.

“While Beatrice was away in Jordan, I was allowed to have Sienna to play. And the last couple of days I’ve managed to really have a bond, and guess what my bond is?” she said: “I give her a little sip of tea out of my teacup.”

Sarah rushed to reassure her listeners that she wasn’t doing anything unsafe: “Don’t worry, for the listeners that are saying “no, no”, I put some cold water in it, she doesn’t know.”

The Duchess then explained that she deems it a “special treat” and that it was a “very sweet” bonding moment for her and her granddaughter.

Sarah is very close to both her daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, and is now a proud grandmother of three - and she's even branded herself the "best granny".

In the same episode, she revealed that she had recently done some shopping for her grandson Ernest, who is the Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooskbank’s youngest, during a recent trip to Italy.
