Rob Beckett can always be found cracking jokes and smiling, but he's also been incredibly candid about his struggles over the years. The comedian has spoken out about the tough times he's had with his mental health and he's also touched upon the struggles he's faced with his body.

Rob, 38, who hosts hit podcast Parenting Hell with Josh Widdecombe, spoke out about his insecurities in his memoir, A Class Act, in which he emotionally revealed his difficult relationship with his body and how he'd been subjected to cruel jibes about his looks.

He described his body as being “like a bag of mashed potatoes” in his memoir, and revealed his "hairy back" and "Jaffa Cake nips" had made him the subject of endless jokes.

Rob has admitted he "hated" his body for a long period of time, especially as a teenager, and turned to exercise as a well of punishing himself. However, he's since found a healthy balance and now works out in a "positive way".

“When I was low, I would train out of body shame and panic, and I hated every second of it. Now I am less harsh on myself,” the dad-of-two, who shares two young daughters with wife Louise Watts, previously told the Yorkshire Post.

He added: "I’d never really enjoyed exercise, because it was all powered by fear that I was fat and looked awful. If you feel like that, you’re not training in a positive way. But now I’ve learned to feel self-worth, I get a good buzz out of it.”

Rob found out he is intolerant to bread back in 2021, prompting him to cut down on carbs. Combined with regular exercise, such as boxing, Rob shed a stone.

He previously vowed to get "absolutely ripped" before he turns 40, and it seems he's still hell bent on his plan. In a recent Instagram post, Rob asked his followers for their biggest mishaps while exercise to feature on his radio show, and a fan was quick to ask about his body goals.

"Been listening to your Parenting Hell podcast for last few weeks, starting 1st episode. Now on series 4. The amount of times I've heard you say you're going to get ripped," the fan laughed. Rob insisted his plan is in action, as he responded: "it's happening. I'm locked in. I'll remember this message Colin."
