Former Coronation Street star Kym Marsh, 48, has had to turn off comments on her Instagram post with her new boyfriend, 29, after the fan backlash became too much.

Kym posted a photo of her and her new boyfriend Samuel Thomas to her Instagram with the caption: “Met the most amazing man ever! Sometimes the most unexpected things happen at the most unexpected times. #beautiful #soulmate #loveyou.”

The photo is actually posted as a Reel, which is a short video, and is a close up snap of the two lovebirds kissing. Despite the picture being an announcement of their love, fans were not happy for them leading to some severe backlash online, and fighting between Kym and her fans.

One person wrote: "Jesus, another amazing man. 5 minute wonder. He looks like your son," to which she hit back: "Do one." Another added: "You said that about the last bloke the other year," to which she responded: "Why don't you go do one."

The people in the comments may have been referring to her previous relationships, as Kym divorced her husband, army major Scott Ratcliff, after only 19 months together. She then turned off the comments entirely, as they were likely causing her turmoil.

Kym and Samuel appear to be very much in love, despite what their followers may think of their relationship, with Samuel posting his own black and white photo of the two to his Instagram page with the caption: “I didn’t expect you, but here you are. I love you.”

The comments are still on for that post and are largely positive. One fan said: “Oh well this is just lovely! Really pleased for you, lovely man - hope the tour is going well Xx.” Another said: “So cute am happy for you both.” And one more said: “Beautiful. I’m so happy for the both of you. Finding love is the best thing ever. Take care of each other best wishes.”

Samuel has also defended his girlfriend to the public after the backlash to their relationship. He took to his Instagram story to shut down the negative comments, saying: "Opinions are like a*******s...everyone's got one, but they're still a*******s."

The couple met on the set of the new stage production of 101 Dalmatians The Musical where Samuel plays Tom Dearly in the show. The musical is currently touring the UK. Samuel posted to his Instagram on July 8 that the show is travelling to Norwich Theatre.
