Cheryl and Nadine Coyle left fans feeling emotional as they shared a sweet moment on stage while kicking off the Girls Aloud reunion tour this weekend, with the pair joining Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts to perform in Dublin.
The band returned to the stage for the first time in 11 years for the first night of the tour, and paid tribute to their late bandmate Sarah Harding, who passed away from breast cancer in 2021, during the show.
During the show, Sarah could be seen singing on screen in old footage, as her voice was heard singing their iconic hit The Promise. The four singers turned their backs to the audience to look up at the screen showing Sarah. And upon turning back to finish the song together, Nadine, 38, appeared emotional, with Cheryl, 40, touching her back in a show of support.
The pair then began to hold hands during the difficult moment, before continuing to sing. That wasn't the only moment the band paid tribute to Sarah, who passed at age 39, with her vocals being heard again during their song I'll Stand By You.
"We're going to do a duet with Sarah tonight. It's going to be us, Sarah, you. Lets do this together," Nadine said before the song began.
Cheryl and Nadine's sweet moment proved that they have truly buried the hatchet, after disagreeing over why the band split back in 2013. At the time, Nadine claimed she didn't want to split up and had 'nothing to do' with the decision.
However, Cheryl clapped back with some fiery words, accusing Nadine of being dishonest about the circumstances surrounding the split.
"She's full of s**t. What d'you want us to say? She's full of s**t. She was the one who wanted to make a solo record. Which is why we took the hiatus," Cheryl revealed to Attitude magazine, hinting at the break they took in 2009 for Nadine to pursue solo projects.
Girls Aloud, who shot to fame on ITV's Popstars: The Rivals in November 2002 and celebrated their first Christmas No1 that year, announced their reunion last November – much to the delight of fans.
The ladies, who hosted a charity ball in 2022 in memory of Sarah, have since contributed to raising over £1million for cancer-related causes, including The Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal.
They are now set to continue their tour around Ireland before heading to England and Scotland throughout May and June.
