Sharon Johnson OBITUARY

Sharon Kay Johnson of Irvine, California passed away June 15, 2024 at the age of 83.Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Verna and G. Russell (Russ) Johnson, as well as her older sister, Marilyn Carlson and younger brother, Rollie Johnson. She is survived by 2 sisters, Sandra Prior and Robin Schecker; one son, Michael Wright and one daughter, Sari Jekums, as well as five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.She grew up in Minnesota and after high school graduation, took classes in typing and short hand to become a secretary. Being the strong independent woman she always was, she decided to move to sunny California on her own at the age of 19. There she worked for Boeing during the 1960s space missions, typing the astronauts’ instruction manuals. Known for being meticulously organized, she then worked as a personal secretary, before becoming a school secretary with the Garden Grove School District for the last 15 years of her career. She was able to enjoy 18 years of retirement despite fighting cancer for the last 9 years. She always prioritized attending her youngest grandson’s baseball games and granddaughter’s musical theater performances. Sharon was a great conversationalist, funny and full of laughter. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, and trying her luck on the slots at the casino!She will be greatly missed by her family, until the day we will be able to see her again in heaven. A private family memorial will be held.
