Dorothy Elizabeth Allen Armbrust OBITUARY

Dottie passed into the arms of Jesus on June 20th after celebrating her 103rd birthday with family and friends on the 15th. Dottie lived a long and fulfilling life of graciousness, elegance, and generosity. She was born to George and Carolyn Allen in Wheatridge, CO. At a young age, the family relocated to Bellflower, CA. She met Carl Armbrust, the love of her life, in Jr. High. They married on June 19, 1942 and had 3 daughters: Andrea Lavoie (Bob), DeAnn McFarland Wood (Jerry), and Carolyn Mathes (Roger).After Carl retired as a Colonel from the USAF he became a Deputy District Attorney in Orange County, CA. Dottie remained his beautiful, devoted wife for 68 years until he went to be with the Lord on 2/9/2010.Dottie, for the most part, was a stay-at-home mom and an enthusiastic volunteer which included among other things, Girl Scouts, the Red Cross, the Victim/Witness Program, as well as being a Released Time Christian Education teacher. She was also very active in many areas of her church. An avid golfer, she once had a hole-in-one, enjoyed bowling and tennis, and was an award-winning bridge player. After the kids grew up she got her real estate license and worked selling houses until Carl retired, and they moved to Canyon Lake.She was preceded in death by her daughter DeAnn, 1 great-granddaughter and 3 great-greats. She is survived by 2 children, 5 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.Our family is very grateful to Emerald Court Assisted Living in Anaheim and Essence Hospice.A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 29 at 11 am – Canyon Lake Community Church Family Center.
