Deanna Jon LaTona Jones OBITUARY

Deanna Jones of Laguna Woods, CA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Vitas Hospice Care.Preceded in death by her parents, John and Isabel LaTona, she was raised with exceptional values; kind-hearted and always a lady in the best sense of the word.She fought and survived breast cancer twice in previous decades. In recent years she struggled with Pneumonia and Congestive Heart Failure several times over the last decade, but always beat back both.Her recent bout of Pneumonia led to cardiac arrest and revival, a six-day induced coma, and at the end, liver failure.Deanna is survived by her loving husband, David “Woody” Jones, her little dog Murphy, and a very close-knit group of friends.Deanna was born in Pittsburgh, PA but the family moved to Los Angeles when she was 5 years old. An impressive earthquake almost sent them packing back, but they toughed it out. At the age of 12, they moved again, this time to Buena Park, CA, which was little more than an orange grove at the time. She graduated from Western High School in 1961.She worked for several different companies including J C Penney, Cort Furniture Rental, and Newport Corporation, a laser optics manufacturer, in customer service.She met her husband Woody when they both auditioned and were cast in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in 1981. They married in 1983.She continued to be active in community theatre. She loved to sing and joined the choir at Lake Hills Community Church and the Women’s choir at Presbyterian Church of the Master as well as the Sweet Adelines Barbershop Chorus. She also volunteered with the Saddleback Valley Assistance League. She loved her doggies Jeanny, Suki, Benji, Koko, and Murphy.Deanna was a kind and generous soul and a loyal and loving friend. She will be missed by all of her friends and loved ones.Celebration of life will be held at Presbyterian Church of the Master, 26051 Marguerite Pkwy, Mission Viejo, CA on Saturday, July 13 at 1 PM.
