Re “Biden must step aside” (June 30):

The choices of a presidential election are absolutely frightening. Neither one nor the other candidate seems fit to navigate this complicated country. Donald Trump has a criminal background and President Biden does not notice that it is time to step down. Sir Winston Churchill stepped down at age 81 when he became aware of slowing down both physically and mentally. The debate was a disaster and the current president does not realize that his time is up.

VP Harris backs Biden

In “Harris defends Biden at L.A. event” (June 30), she says among his accomplishments were bringing down prescription prices, forgiving student debt (debatable if that is constitutional) and combating threats to LGBTQ+ rights. Somehow she didn’t mention some of his other “accomplishments” including a disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, the highest inflation rate since Jimmy Carter, record number of illegal border crossings, the world in chaos, helping Iran financially fund terror groups, etc. While I agree with most (not all) of Trump’s policies, I am not a big fan because of his demeanor and personality and voted for Nikki Haley in the primary. If she were the Republican nominee the election would be over. However, if you ask two questions, 1) are you better off now than you were when Trump was president, and 2) is the world a safer place now than when Trump was president, the answers are clear. No!

We should be thankful for the Supreme Court’s new ruling on immunity

Re “Trump secures broad immunity” (July 2):

We should be thankful for this ruling that finally formalizes the extent of presidential immunity limiting it to “official acts,” which was previously assumed and precedent.

The current president should be thankful for this ruling, which will potentially protect him from, at a minimum, actions he took about student debt forgiveness and failed border control liabilities and prosecutions.

The Dems are only miffed because this ruling delays their Trump prosecutions until after the election, only because of their zeal and failure to consider “official acts vs. unofficial acts” in their initial indictments.
