UPDATED:

The oldest of French couture houses opened in late May at South Coast Plaza.

Lanvin’s boutique at the Costa Mesa retail center tucks into a minimalistic and sleekly designed 1,540 square feet. The architectural concept by Bernard Dubois is considered a West Coast “exclusive,” according to mall reps.

The brand, founded as a hat shop by Jeanne Lanvin in the late 1880s, sells an array of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, leather goods and accessories, footwear and evening wear.

You’ll find the store next to Jacques Marie Mage and Monique Lhuillier near the Jewel Court.

Grants & fundraisers

Illumination Foundation is the recipient of a $3.5 million grant from CalOptima Health that will enable the nonprofit to create a “recuperative care” facility in Santa Ana for children and families experiencing homelessness. The money is part of $25 million in community grants given by CalOptima for transitional housing projects. “This program will fill a critical need for vulnerable families and help build healthier, more resilient communities,” said Pooja Bhalla, Illumination Foundation’s chief executive officer.

Community Action Partnership of Orange County is the recipient of a $100,000 grant provided by the 2024 Walter B. Gerken Community Service Award from the Pacific Life Foundation. The money will support the organization’s efforts to end and prevent poverty throughout Orange County. “We are deeply honored that Community Action Partnership of Orange County was selected as this year’s recipient of the Walter B. Gerken Community Service Award,” said Gregory C. Scott, CAP OC president and chief executive. CAP OC Food Bank serves over 28 million pounds of food every year including fresh produce and proteins, as well as non-perishable items such as rice, pasta and more.

Vanguard University recently was awarded a $825,000 grant from the Samueli Foundation to create a “Safe Communities; Safe Kids” program through the school’s Global Center for Women and Justice. The three-year initiative will look to increase human trafficking prevention education for students and educators in Orange County public schools. “We are immensely grateful to the Samueli Foundation for this generous grant, which will allow us to bring vital human trafficking awareness and prevention resources directly into Orange County classrooms,” said Sandra Morgan, Ph.D., director of the GCWJ. The program will recruit, hire and train VU students who will visit public middle schools across the county to share a curriculum on human trafficking prevention tailored for youth.
