This year’s Fourth of July Anaheim Hills community celebration promises to be yet another fun-filled day for everyone.

The annual event kicks off at 7 a.m., with the Firecracker 5k/10k at Canyon High School’s lower field with various activities scheduled throughout the day. It is a great way to celebrate the Fourth of July with family and friends.

Come enjoy the always favorite Yankee Doodle Dog Show at 9 a.m., at Canyon High School’s Softball Field. The community parade follows at 1 p.m. – that begins at the Canyon High School parking lot and continues east on Santa Ana Canyon Road. Food booths and entertainment start at 3 p.m., at Peralta Park with the exciting fireworks show at 9 p.m.

The Fourth of July Community Celebration is presented by Disneyland and the city of Anaheim’s Community Services Department, which will also have various city department resource booths at Peralta Park. Call 714-765-5191 or visit Anaheim.net.

Gather in the park for concerts

Concerts in the Canyon, a four-week concert series, starts tonight at 6:30 p.m., at Ronald Reagan Park featuring a soul and Motown tribute performance from the Stone Soul band.

Other concerts include Knight Ryder, featuring the best of the ’80s and ’90s, on July 11; then the country rock band 33 Thunder on July 18; and culminates with a tribute to Jimmy Buffet from the Buffett Beach Band on July 25.

All concerts begin at 6:30 p.m., and those planning to attend should bring along a lounge chair or blanket. Gourmet food trucks will be around offering a variety of food items for purchase or attendees can bring their own picnic dinner. Enjoy an evening of great music, and dance or sing along to your favorite tunes. There is no charge to attend this all-family event.

New leaders for Women’s Club

Members of the Anaheim Hills Women’s Club installed the Board of Directors for the 2024-25 club year during a luncheon meeting held recently at the Anaheim Hills Golf Club.

Gayle Huff is the newly installed president. Other board members include: Kim Page, VP Membership; Yolanda Davis, VP Entertainment; Rose Johnson, VP Restaurants; Janice Dempsey, Recording Secretary; June Ledbetter, Treasurer; Larissa Calderwood, Newsletter Editor; and Adrienne Meehan, Parliamentarian.

Anaheim Hills Women’s Club is a social club open to all women in the community. Luncheon meetings are held September-June at the Anaheim Hills Golf Club featuring entertainment and special programs. The club also has a wine group, breakfast group and golf group, in addition to other fun activities such as Bunco.

Kids can picnic with their stuffed friends

Canyon Hills Library once again hosts its annual Teddy Bear Picnic from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on July 13 at the Canyon Hills branch. All kids are welcome to attend and bring along a favorite stuffed animal to this fun-filled event.

The day includes an awesome puppet show, crafts, special treats and much more. Dig Dug and his Dino Mites are this year’s special guests. Raising Cane’s Restaurant will provide a lemonade party and guests are also welcome to bring a picnic lunch and eat in the library’s Reading Garden area. Various snacks will also be provided.

New team leading local nonprofit

The Women’s Club of Orange recently installed its 2024-25 Executive Board with Carol Allen assuming the duties of president.

Members of the nonprofit organization recently presented a $1,000 check to Orange Public Library Archivist and History Librarian Aida Cuevas for the library’s History Center.

Women’s Connection has lunch plans

A patriotic celebration is planned for the July 8 Anaheim, Orange and Villa Park Women’s Connection luncheon at the Black Gold Golf Club. And all women are invited.

Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for shopping with local onsite vendors. Luncheon follows at 11:30 a.m., and a special program depicting the colorful history of the American flag will be presented by Gary Colletti and friends. Afternoon entertainment will be provided by the talented Julie Fullerton. Guest speaker Julienne Chene will share what it’s like to have “The Perfect Life.”
